What is a Perfect Clear?
A Perfect Clear (PC) means having no filled cells left after a line clear.
How to make a Perfect Clear?
This guide tries to give a higher chance of performing a Perfect Clear. The best scenario is to attempt it at the beginning of a game, when your opponent has not finished building up their stack. If you succeed, this usually becomes a K.O.
Note that this guide does not guarantee a 100% chance of success in making a Perfect Clear. It also requires a lot of understanding and practice to make it work in a game. However, failure is not as bad because you can continue making a stack for T-Spin or Tetrises.
The process contain 2 steps.
- Create a stack that makes a perfect clear more possible
- Look for tetromino combinations that will make it succeed.
Stack for a Perfect Clear
This is a stack that makes a Perfect Clear much more likely, since it is built with every tetromino from the first bag and has 12 holes, to fit 3 tetrominoes from the second bag.
It is possible to build the stack in other ways.
Using the Next 3 Tetrominoes
Assume you have built your stack like this:
The next thing to worry about is what the next 3 tetrominoes will be. Note that you can use hold piece to hold a tetromino. As a Tetris player, you should know that the sequence is very important in many cases.
A solution is shown here. This solution will work regardless of the order of the tetrominoes. This solution requires an L-Spin. I-Block can be dropped at any time.
Rotate an L-Block counterclockwise and soft drop into the desired position:
Then rotate clockwise once:
Then drop an I-Block (or T-Block if it comes next):
Resulted in a line clear making a Perfect Clear position for the T-Block:
For this solution, S should come first. Order of Z and L does not matter. If L comes before Z, it requires a Z-Spin.
Rotate an S-Block and soft drop, then rotate again, as shown:
Then drop L-Block into the desired position:
The hardest part is to do a Z-Spin. Rotate counterclockwise and soft drop to this position:
Spin counterclockwise again to kick into this position. Sometimes, it may not go in. If it does not go in, spin around until it kicked in. This requires some practice.
